Seaside jolly?
Sedgie 1sts are back on the road this week as we travel to the seaside to take on Redcar who sit in 9th place in the league 39 points. This by virtue of being awarded a home walk over for a fixture against Winlaton. Results last week didnt go our way with Whitby and Barnard Castle playing out a 30 - 29 home win which gave Whitby maximum points but also Barney 2 losing bonus points to push us back into the bottom 2. Regardless of league restructuring our aim is to finish outside what would normally be the relegation spots.. So in order to do that we could do with a win on Saturday.
We know it will be tough, we lost out narrowly at home to Redcar 14 - 17 last month in what was hardly a classic! Redcar of course will likely now consider themselves safe from the bottom 2 with a 2 win cushion over us.
Sedgie will be hoping to carry on the positives from our last game where we were pretty convincing winners over Seaham in a game that showed our potential to beat a lot of teams in our league on a good day, lads just have to have that belief.
Team News
Graham Brennan is definitely out and will be a big miss as we approach the business end of the season (Dont tell him I said that!), Also Kyle Sutcliffe season looks to be over following a back injury so we shuffle our deck again for Saturday
Mitch Corney is retained at prop with Tom Ducker returning alongside hooker James Watson. Ben Norris comes into the second row for the unavailable Pedro Gray alongside Dan Lawson. Charlie Johnson returns from injury to pack down in the back row alongside Dom Ryan and Massimo Impagliazzo.
Nathan Waterhouse is again at scrum half with Gaz Pratt at stand off, Will Johnson moves to inside centre with Lawrence Oliver outside. Jordan Portlock and Ryan Towler on the wings. Adam Grieves is a very welcome returnee at full back.
On the bench John Pope covers our back line with Seb Wilkins and Dan Martin covering the pack.
Our Saxons team news is to follow as we desperately try to pull a few lads in to get the game on.
