Eshington visit the Wok
Sedgie welcome the Colliers from Ashington to the Wok on Saturday for a DN2 clash. The Sedgie faithful will be in the hope that they can continue the improved performance from the Sunderland 2nd half which showed some reasons for optimism.
The Opposition
Last season Ashington did the double on us and will no doubt be in confident mood given our poor start and their own hammering of Darlington in last weeks game. They have a new coaching team in this season and have played 4, won 2 and lost 2 so far. We hope they enjoy the trip down and also the post match entertainment.. We will popping into the village post match to the Corner House as the Cricket Club has a function. Its no Bubbles nightclub lads, but we hope you enjoy the Sedgie night life as much as we do!
Team News
Sedgies number looks a lot more positive this week, with harvest coming to an end, inuries healing and holidays finishing so we hope to name a strong squad with players in the right positions being a brighter start than of late!!
Daniel Lawson and Richie Wood provide ever reliable book ends for James Watson who is at Hooker. Nick Stringer returns from his hat trick heroics in the Saxons to lock out with Anth Smyth, the back row sees player coach Paul McCormack and Will Johnson flanking with Skipper Phil Dawson restored to number 8.
Nathan Waterhouse keeps his place after playing well last week and Mark Baldwin gets the nod at ten. Chris Dawson takes over the 12 jersey from his brother and Danny Wolfe gets a shot in his favoured position of outside centre. Ryan Towler and Kyle Smith keep their positons on the wings and Owen Robinson returns at full back. The back line for the first time this season has no forwards in it filling in gaps which is a positive start!!
The bench sees Michael Shepherd, Josh Hetherington and Micheal Bishop provide strong coverage and all 3 are likely to play a big role if Sedgie are to improve their fortunes and pick up some valuable first points.
