Winlaton visit the Wok
Sedgie host Winlaton to the Wok for the latest instalment of Counties Division 2 D& N rugby! Our visitors have had a huge turnaround in players since their struggles of last season with lots of new players either returning or signing on. They picked up a good win on the opening weekend at home to Ashington but haven't managed another since however, im sure they will start to put together some results soon.... Hopefully after Saturday! Last Season saw us do the double over them, but we know we are facing a very different side this weekend.
Sedgie have good confidence after taking 4 wins from 6 which is a great ratio for us, We are playing well in the games we have won and even in defeat been really competitive which is great to see. If we could just fix our unavailability glitch, who knows what we could achieve! No less than 50 lads unavailable or injured this weekend has put paid to the Saxons who were supposed to play Newton Aycliffe in a Derby.
The lads that are available are a very strong 18 and there are some welcome returnees in the squad as well.
Graham Brennan returns from work commitments at prop with Skipper James Watson and Dan Lawson completing the front row, Mitch Corney and Pedro Gray form an all action second row pairing while the pack is completed by an impressive carrying back row triumvarate of Massimo Impagliazzo, Will Johnson and Phil Dawson.
In the backs, Tom Flatters resumes at number 9 with Gaz Pratt at stand off, Chris Dawson and Adam Smith are paired again at centre while out wide George Young and Lewis White are the flyers with Ross Wilson at full back.
On the bench, there are returns for Dave Hewitson and Andy Shepherd, Whilst Andy Broere completes the line up.
Hopefully another win can be celebrated in what is turning out to be a very decent season for us.
